This is a solid,
well-built piece of equipment that simply plugs in the
USB port.
There is a top (LED) light powered by the USB, & a bottom light for slides etc. powered by AA batteries.
The focus control is easy & accurate to use, with 3 useful magnification levels (20x, 40x & 100x).
The software is straightforward to install & very user-friendly, allowing you to
capture & edit still or moving images (including
time lapse).
annotation tools for highlighting & labeling, a comparison tool for layering 2 images over each other, & a
measuring tool for accurate measurement of subject matter.
Because this is a digital image, you can link into your IWB etc. just as we do with the visualiser.
Observing closely using equipment such as a microscope is part of the science curriculum.
The microscope barrel can be removed from the stand & used as a hand-held device (useful for
field studies when linked to a portable laptop or netbook).
